I began drawing when I was very young and have memories of doing sketches under the desk at school when I was bored, which was often. I went on to do art as a subject in High School and Just loved it. But then life got in the way and I did not do any art for many years.

In 2000 while I was living in the USA, I attended community college and did an art course for one year. But after that I did not start again until I retired. The art done in the US was mostly oil pastel.

I was invited to attend a Folk Art class in Glen Innes by a friend and I started and stayed, she didn't. I was using acrylic paint and I attended these classes weekly for about 2 years.

I came in to Art On The Corner Inc. one day, and was inspired to join, thinking to put some of my Folk Art in. This has lead me to trying other forms of art, including colour pencil art (Prisma Colour), black and white as well as acrylic on canvas. A few months later I became President and I'm still here. I have taken different art classes in the area, and love to try out new things. There are so many different ways and art equipment available today, I have only scratched the surface.

Art has become a wonderful way to enjoy my retirement. It sometimes feels like I haven't retired at all!

I am inspired to keep working when I see such great art go up in the gallery. It gives me an outlet to sell some of my art, provides a place to meet other artists and make new friends.

So now I can be found at the gallery on many Fridays, and some days in between.

I would urge anyone who is thinking about giving art a go, to do so, who knows where it will lead.
